If you are interested in becoming a home performance contractor or finding employment in the field, participating in available training and earning key certifications will be a critical first step towards success.
Some member companies have agreed to participate in the BPI Accreditation program. BPI Accreditation was designed to ensure that the contractor "has appropriately-certified staffing and quality management systems in place that can result in the delivery of consistent, high-quality building performance services on every project. BPI Accreditation is voluntary and requires a true commitment to approach each project from a whole-building perspective."
Most home performance contractors participate in locally sponsored Home Performance with ENERGY STAR programs. Home Performance with ENERGY STAR, sponsored nationally by U.S. EPA and U.S. DOE, offers a comprehensive, whole-house approach to improving energy efficiency and comfort at home, while helping to protect the environment. Participating contractors may benefit from increased business support, and customers benefit from knowing that their Home Performance with ENERGY STAR contractor has committed to practices that can help make their home safer, healthier, and more energy efficient.
Most Guild member companies support standards set forth by the Building Performance Institute (BPI), and we employee analysts and technicians who have received in-depth BPI training.
Member companies also employ technicians who have earned certification in duct sealing per standards set forth by Performance Tested Comfort Systems (PTCS) Northwest.
